Defined by its cobblestone streets, antebellum houses, and horse drawn carriages – Charleston has plenty of charm and history. There are so many possibilities for how you can spend your wedding day in the historic city. I’ve been dreaming of a Midsommar inspired elopement at Paint Rock Farm for quite some time. Midsommar is one of my absolute favorite films. Make of that what you will. After my first watch, I thought – hmm, this would make a beautiful wedding (minus the cliff diving and bear suits). This idea sat in my head for over a year and I finally decided to round up some amazing vendors and bring this to life.

I’m busting common elopement myths wide open! If you’re like me, you grew up believing that eloping was not the right way to get married. People who eloped were only doing so because they were hiding something or scared of what their family would think. It’s crazy that this is what I thought as both of my parents eloped when I was young and I never thought anything of it. Myself and many other elopement photographers are working to change how the wedding industry views elopements.

Elopements are an intimate, meaningful way to commit your lives to each other in a way that is authentic to you.  We no longer have to think of elopements as sneaking off to the courthouse to avoid societal and familial pressures. Couples are now choosing to have an authentic, meaningful wedding experience by eloping. They are choosing to spend one of the most important days of their lives focused on what matters – their relationship.
